Orbis Clinical is seeking a Protein Biochemist Contractor located in Alameda, CA for 5-6 months.
Job Title: Protein Biochemist Contractor
Location: Alameda, CA
Initial Contract: 5-6months. client known to extend contractors up to 24months. Opportunity to convert to perm after that depending on budgets, performance , business need etc.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Expression of recombinant proteins from E. coli and insect cell systems
- Purification of recombinant proteins from E. coli and insect cell systems using affinity and traditional chromatography (e.g. SEC, IEX) techniques
- Characterize proteins by SDS-PAGE, Abs280, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), Western blot
- Familiarity with standard molecular biology techniques including transformation
- Familiarity recording, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data
- Maintain proper laboratory notebooks
- Comply with safe laboratory practices and EH&S guidelines
- Familiarity with FPLC systems (e.g. Akta) is a plus
- Familiarity with biophysical techniques (e.g. SEC-MALS, DSF, SPR, etc.) is a plus
- Familiarity with protein crystallization and/or cryo-EM sample preparation is a plus
Experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience in protein expression and purification is required
Compensation Details:

- The Pay Range for this position is $38-$45 per hour, can vary depending on employment status.
