Protein Biochemist Contractor- Alameda, CA

Orbis Clinical is seeking a Protein Biochemist Contractor located in Alameda, CA for 5-6 months.

Job Title: Protein Biochemist Contractor

Location: Alameda, CA

Initial Contract: 5-6months. client known to extend contractors up to 24months. Opportunity to convert to perm after that depending on budgets, performance , business need etc.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Expression of recombinant proteins from E. coli and insect cell systems
• Purification of recombinant proteins from E. coli and insect cell systems using affinity and traditional chromatography (e.g. SEC, IEX) techniques
• Characterize proteins by SDS-PAGE, Abs280, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), Western blot
• Familiarity with standard molecular biology techniques including transformation
• Familiarity recording, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data
• Maintain proper laboratory notebooks
• Comply with safe laboratory practices and EH&S guidelines
• Familiarity with FPLC systems (e.g. Akta) is a plus
• Familiarity with biophysical techniques (e.g. SEC-MALS, DSF, SPR, etc.) is a plus
• Familiarity with protein crystallization and/or cryo-EM sample preparation is a plus

Experience:

• Extensive hands-on experience in protein expression and purification is required

Compensation Details:

• The Pay Range for this position is $38-$45 per hour, can vary depending on employment status.
